Hurricane Sandy Volunteer Opportunities
If you are interested in volunteering to help with the clean up and recovery efforts following Hurricane Sandy, please know that at this time we do not have a specific organized UU effort going on right now as the UU churches in the area are just trying to care for their members and local community the best they can.
As the congregations get in touch with us, we might have some specific opportunities and we'll let folks know about those as we learn about them.
However, both the states of New Jersey and New York have set up volunteer listings where you can volunteer and learn about opportunities.
New Jersey has a hotline:
NJ emergency management office is set up – If you'd like to lend a hand in the post-Sandy clean-up, the state of New Jersey volunteer emergency response hotline has been activated. The number to call is 1-800-JERSEY-7 (1-800-537-7397); backup hotline numbers are: 609-775-5236 or 908-303-0471. Leave a message if your call is not immediately answered with your name, contact information, place of residence, skill set, and availability.
